Wait what? I hope you meant to say "not working" so that it gets classified as a bug.
Not supported would mean that it works as is designed, which makes little sense for shared VMs as auto-start is one of the features of a shared VM.
Why would VMware not take care of the other -I'd say obvious- part to auto shutdown or auto suspend guests on a clean shut down of the host?
Especially as you mention that it works for normal VMs... which makes this statement even more strange.
