Can't add ESXi 6 to vCenter

Hi,

Hope someone can help, I'm going round in circles!

I've been using ESXi for years, but always as single hosts. I recently got licensing for vCenter 6 Essentials and set about building a lab.

I've two ESXi Hosts, one Mac Mini (192.168.1.0/24) and one Dell PowerEdge (192.168.10.0/24), both running ESXi v6. vCenter v6 is running on a VM on the Dell Poweredge and is working. Can login/license/administrate etc. Also, I successfully added the Mac Mini to the new datacenter.

However, I cannot seem to add the Dell Poweredge. Every time I go through the add host process I get the following;

'Cannot contact the specified host (hostname.domain.local). The host may not be available on the network, a network configuration problem may exist, or the management services on this host may not be responding'

Also, when I RDP onto the VM hosting vCenter I can ping the Poweredge ESXi server by IP, Hostname and FQDN, but I cannot login to it via vSphere Client. However, if I use my laptop (192.168.1.0/24 range OR 192.168.10.0/24 range) I can successfully login to the Poweredge ESXi server.

Can I add an ESXi host to vCenter if vCenter is running on that host?

Any help would be appreciated!

Adam
