So I'm in a bit of a dispute with another hypervisor vendor about the terrible disk performance I'm getting while using their product. On our 2 VMWare clusters, I have attached a nice, shiny-new 3PAR 7200C storage array. I'm seeing very good performance from the VMWare ESXi hypervisors using the SSD storage via 8 Gbit fiberchannel.
What I'm wondering is -- is there a utility similar to hdparm on ESXi which can be used to evaluate the transfer rates? Said competitor is using hdparm and telling me that it's good and speedy, but I would like to see the numbers from the VMWare side vs. their numbers.
My initial test included attaching both hypervisors (all running the same server hardware) to the same 3PAR array, using the same disks on the 3PAR. Once that was done I simply built a pair of guest hosts on each hypervisor and used RoadKil's Disk Speed to test both systems.

Again, the hardware is all the same, the only difference between the systems is the underlying hypervisor.
