Possible to Speed up CVD Move Process

I realize this seems like a silly question and I'm certain the answer is 'no' but desperate times...

Also I'm very new to Mirage; it's system that was here prior to my arrival that was largely unmanaged until recently when a certain something hit the fan.

We have 3 volumes one of which is full.

We're trying to re-balance CVD's across the two less-full 2 volumes but this process takes an uncomfortably long time.

  • About a third of the move operations take about 24hrs
  • Another third takes 2-5 days
  • The rest upwards of 7 days

In addition to the moves taking ages, it seems to takes an equally lengthy amount of time for the server to 'realize' the newly available space after the move.

Endpoints are not getting backed up and we've already felt the wrath of a critical VIP who needed a bare metal restore.

Is there another way to move CVD's that might be quicker?

Is there any way to influence the performance of this process: Moving CVD's from one volume to another + realizing the new free space?

Is there any way to determine the bottleneck, be it the way Mirage works vs the server hardware vs network connectivity vs storage etc?

Server is all-in-on box with Mirage 4.3.0.24687 running on Server 2008 R2

Dual Xeon E5450 16GB RAM

One volume is local and the other two are shares local to the Mirage server.
