Hi Guys,
Well after using VirtualBox, for quite a long time, i decided to use VMware for 2 reasons. First a USB-HD drive keeps on crashing in VirtualBox and second to get to know VMware a little better after 9 years the last time i used it.
Still as a student i am trying to get as much knowledge as i can about virtualmachines software as specially VMware.
Here is the situation.
Server:
OS: Linux Ubuntu Server 14.04.3 x64
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770S
RAM: 16 GB
HD Setup:
- 5 x 3.5 Inch HD = RAID 5
- 1 SSD (250 GB)
- 38 GB - OS partition / SWAP
- Rest - VirtualMachine space
- 1 USB-HD 2.5 inch 1TB download HD
- 1 USB-HD 2.5 ich 700 GB WDS/PXE HD
Client:
OS: Linux Ubuntu Desktop 14.04.3 x64
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4710HQ
RAM: 16 GB
HD Setup: WD Black2 Dual Drive
Software:
Server: Vmware Workstation Pro 12.0
Client: Vmware Workstation Pro 12.0
Situation:
The Vmware Workstation on the server is running Headless on the Linux Ubuntu server. Using connect to Server on Vmware Workstation on the client i get access to the Vmware Workstation on the server. I have installed Microsoft Windows server 2012R2 to experiment with Windows Deployment Services i am trying to mount 1 USB-HD 2.5 inch 700 GB WDS/PXE HD for the captured images. This one as you can see with the server setup, is installed on the server. This HD is installed on 2x USB 3.0 ports, using a "ASMT 2105" (SATA-->USB 3.0 converter). However, i am busy getting this to work, but i simply cannot mount this on my remote server. I get to see the USB-drives etc on my Client, but not what is connected to my remote server.
Can anyone guide me through the steps or simply pointing me to the right direction to look.
